What is the Reely Rod made of?
The Reely Rod uses a carbon fibre performance blank. It’s lighter, faster to respond, and more sensitive than the fibreglass blanks used in most budget telescopic rods.
The guides are ceramic-lined for low-friction casting with braided or monofilament line, and the handle is premium EVA.
What's the difference between the 2.1m and 2.4m rod?
The 2.1m (Medium, 119g) is suited to creeks, travel, and lighter species.
The 2.4m (Medium Heavy, 137g) offers more reach and power for shorelines, open water, and larger fish.
Both collapse to fit in a standard backpack.
How small does the Reely Rod collapse?
The 2.1m collapses to 50.5cm and the 2.4m to 53.5cm. That’s roughly the length of a laptop. Both fit inside backpacks, gloveboxes, carry-on luggage (under the standard 55cm airline limit), and under a car seat.
Can I use the Reely Rod for lure fishing?
Yes. It’s specifically designed for active lure fishing, not just bait-and-wait setups. The carbon blank gives you the sensitivity to feel taps, structure, and lure movement through the rod. Lure range is 10 – 30g on the 2.1m and 15 – 35g on the 2.4m.
What species can I catch with the Reely Rod?
The Reely Rod is rated from 3 – 8kg depending on the model. That covers popular Australian species including bream, flathead, Australian bass, trout, tailor, snapper, herring, and whiting. It works in both freshwater and saltwater.
Are telescopic fishing rods as strong as regular rods?
Budget telescopic rods made with fibreglass are generally less sensitive and weaker than one-piece rods. The Reely Rod uses a carbon fibre blank with tight-locking sections that eliminate wobble.
It’s rated to handle fish up to 8kg, which is comparable to many full-size rods in the same power class. It’s designed to be your primary rod, not a backup.
Does the Reely Rod work with braided line?
Yes. The ceramic guide rings are designed for both braided and monofilament line. Low friction, smooth flow, no line damage.
Will the Reely Rod fit in carry-on luggage?
Yes. The 2.1m collapses to 50.5cm and the 2.4m to 53.5cm. Both fit within the standard carry-on size limit of 55cm used by most Australian and international airlines. No need to check it as oversized luggage.
What spinning reel fits the Reely Rod?
Most standard spinning reels in the 1000 – 3000 size range will fit the ergonomic racing reel seat. We recommend the Topline Spinning Reel 1000 (5.2:1 gear ratio, 8kg max drag, metal spool, left or right hand retrieve), which is included in the Quick Cast Kit and Starter Kit bundles.
How long does it take to set up?
Under 30 seconds. Twist, slide, and lock each section into place. No tools or assembly instructions needed. Packing it back down is just as quick.
What's included in the Starter Kit?
The Starter Kit ($299 AUD) includes the Reely Rod 2.1m, Topline Spinning Reel 1000, Essential Fishing Sunglasses (polarised, UV400), and Stainless Steel Fishing Pliers.
Total value if bought separately: $405. You save $106.
What's the difference between the Quick Cast Kit, Starter Kit, and Ultimate Reely Drop?
The Quick Cast Kit ($260) is rod + reel only.
The Starter Kit ($299) adds sunglasses and pliers.
The Ultimate Reely Drop ($449) upgrades to the 2.4m rod + reel and adds a waterproof bag, giant lure set, sunglasses, and pliers. The Ultimate Drop saves $276 compared to buying everything separately.
Is the reel included with the rod?
Not if you buy the rod on its own. The Topline Spinning Reel 1000 is included in the Quick Cast Kit, Starter Kit, and Ultimate Reely Drop bundles. You can also buy the reel separately.
Which kit should I buy as a beginner?
The Starter Kit is the most popular choice for beginners. It gives you everything you need to start fishing straight away (rod, reel, sunglasses, pliers) with no extra purchases required. It’s also the best value bundle with $106 in savings.
Can I buy the rod without a bundle?
Yes. The Reely Rod is available as a standalone product. The 2.1m is $180 AUD and the 2.4m is $200 AUD. Both ship with free delivery across Australia.
Is the Reely Rod a good gift?
Yes. The Starter Kit and Ultimate Reely Drop are popular for birthdays, Father’s Day, and Christmas. Both arrive ready to use with no extra purchases needed. The rod collapses small enough to wrap easily.

Is there a warranty on the Reely Rod?
Yes. 12-month warranty on all rods and reels covering manufacturing defects. If something is faulty, we replace it or make it right.
Does the warranty cover accidental damage?
The warranty covers manufacturing defects, not accidental breakage from misuse, drops, or impacts. That said, if something seems off, contact us and we’ll assess it fairly.
How do I clean and maintain the Reely Rod?
Rinse the rod with fresh water after every saltwater session. Wipe the guides and reel seat dry. Collapse the rod fully before storing. Avoid leaving it in direct sun for extended periods. That’s it. Carbon fibre is low maintenance.
Can I use the Reely Rod in saltwater?
Yes. The ceramic guides and stainless steel components are saltwater compatible. Rinse with fresh water after each session to maintain the finish and prevent salt build-up.
